Eduardo (Yayo) Sanz Lovatón, director general of the Customs Agency, said on Tuesday, 26 August 2025 that the first flight of Amazon international cargo to its distribution center in Santo Domingo will arrive on 2 September 2025. He says the arrival of the flight will mark an important step towards the integration of the country to global online commerce.

“The Dominican Republic is now the main logistics hub in the Caribbean,” said Sanz Lovaton in making the announcement during a TV morning talk program.

He said the country has always had the advantage of geographic location. And for decades there has been economic stability, even in times of global slowdowns.
