A convicted former ambassador has been granted permission to teach emerging lawyers. A judge in San Cristóbal has granted a work permit to Donni Mayobanex Santana Cuevas, a former Dominican ambassador who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the sexual assault of his stepdaughter. The recent judicial order allows him to work as a professor at the National School of the Dominican Bar Association (CARD), N Digital reports.
The judge, José Manuel Arias of the Second Chamber of the Execution of the Sentence, issued the authorization, which had been sought in June. Juan Pérez Roa, the vice president of CARD, acted as a guarantor for Santana Cuevas.
The permit requires Santana Cuevas to teach at the CARD National School from Monday to Friday. On weekends and holidays, he is to remain under house arrest at a residence in the National District.
