Major delays occurred at Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) caused by a power outage on Sunday, 21 September 2025. The Vinci-managed Aerodom airport reported that at least 20 flights were affected. Diario Libre publishes that 30 flights were impacted. Several flights were detoured to the airports of Santiago and Punta Cana.

The power outage began at 9:18am and immediately impacted airport operations. Luis José López, Aerodom’s Communications Director, confirmed that several flights had to be rerouted and departures and arrivals faced delays. Flights were resumed gradually after 2:40pm, El Nacional reported. The power service was fully restored at 6:05pm, Aerodom announced, as reported in Listin Diario.
