President Luis Abinader used most of the time of his weekly La Semanal press conference and traveled to Santiago to present the advances of the third phase of the transformation of the Gurabo Gully (Arroyo Gurabo) in Santiago city. The President described the project as the most impactful urban work built in the country.

Some 12,000 families are positively impacted. The President said the first 1,200 families have been relocated to the Hato del Yaque government apartments complex with its community and sports center.

The project encompasses the largest children’s park in the Caribbean, complete with an amphitheater. A soccer field and a track for athletics, complete with Chevron track, is included.

The project encompasses the recovery of 25,000 of green areas, with another 25,000 to be recovered by the completion of the project in 2026.
