Foreign Relations Minister Roberto Álvarez underscored the nation’s “strategic relevance” to the United States, calling the US the country’s principal commercial partner and political ally.

Álvarez delivered the keynote address, “The Dominican Republic in an Uncertain Geopolitical World,” at the Organization of American States (OAS) headquarters as part of the 33rd edition of Dominican Week in the United States. His presentation offered a detailed analysis of the current bilateral relationship and the steps the Dominican Republic is taking to strengthen it.

The Foreign Relations Minister emphasized the robust economic ties, revealing that trade in goods between the two countries totaled US$154.8 billion between 2015 and 2024, as reported in El Dia. US exports accounted for US$98.5 billion, while Dominican exports reached US$56.28 billion.
