A security guard at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has died from injuries sustained during a shooting on the central campus last Thursday, 16 October 2025.

Lyedgers Tameydshi Encarnación Peña, a member of the security team, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday after being hospitalized since the incident, Diario Libre reports. The university confirmed his death, expressing “profound sadness” in a statement on its official X account, and offered condolences to his family and the university community.

The gunfire happened on Thursday afternoon following an earlier conflict between a student and security personnel.
