So far in 2025 there have been no fatalities due to dengue fever, a sickness transmitted the same way as malaria and yellow fever, that is, by the aedes aegypti mosquito.
This welcome news was provided by Public Health Minister Victor Atallah and the head of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama.
The health officials also noted that infant mortality is down over 30%, and newborn deaths were down to 13 per 1000 live births, the lowest it has been in 15 years.
