The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) is implementing a sweeping new security protocol and major infrastructure upgrades following the tragic on-campus shooting death of a security employee by a student.

The rector announced the new measures during the wake for the security guard, who was fatally shot by a Law student in a shocking incident on campus. The rector lamented the loss, stating, “We are failing in elementary things; it is not possible that people who are doing their duty have their lives taken. What happened is very regrettable; a member of our university family has lost his life in a fatal incident.”
