In the Epidemiological Report #41, the Ministry of Public Health has reported that there has not been a single case of cholera in the Dominican Republic so far this year. In 2024, the ministry reported 15 cases over the same time frame. Unfortunately, Haiti has reported a now outbreak of cholera, with 17 reported cases, so far.

Given the extreme political and social conditions in Haiti at the present time, combined with the copious amounts of rain that are being shed on much of the country by Hurricane Melissa, the outlook for controlling the outbreak is not very positive. Therefore, the Dominican authorities have established a series of protocols for trans-frontier business and travel.
