President Luis Abinader officially opened the Vallejuelo–Batista, Vallejuelo–Río Arriba Sur and Los Arroyos–Sabaneta roads on Saturday, 1 November 2025. The infrastructure projects were executed by the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (Egehid), as part of its corporate social responsibility program. EgeHid is a public-private corporation. The roads are set to impact 18,000 rural residents in the San Juan de la Maguana province.

Egehid Administrator Rafael Salazar said the new roads are a cornerstone of a broader effort to expand necessary infrastructure for the region’s productive development, which is critical for the nation’s water resources, energy supply, and agricultural output.
