Public health officials in eastern La Altagracia province have launched an intensive, door-to-door anti-rabies vaccination campaign targeting 60,000 dogs and cats in a critical effort to protect both animal and human health, as reported in Diario Libre.
The Provincial Health Agency (DPS) of La Altagracia initiated the free vaccination drive on 31 October 2025, and it is scheduled to run through 7 November. Rabies is a fatal viral disease that affects both animals and humans, making the mass vaccination a vital preventive measure.
The goal is to vaccinate over 60,000 pets through a massive house-to-house operation. In addition to the mobile teams, three fixed posts have been established at strategic locations: the Provincial Health Agency office, the Health Park (Parque de la Salud), and the Anamelia Park (Parque de Anamelia).
