The Dominican Republic has positioned itself as a regional leader in green financing and climate action following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Environment and Mamaland Company S.A. (Grupo Mota-Engil). The agreement outlines a potential investment of US$300 million (RD$18 billion) for ambitious projects focused on ecological restoration, carbon credits, and environmental conservation across the country.

The landmark initiative was facilitated through the diplomatic efforts of the Dominican Ambassador to Portugal, Patricia Villegas de Jorge.
