The Disciplinary Commission of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) has kicked the Athletic San Cristobal team out of the Dominican Football Federation’s First Division, prohibiting them from completing this year’s competition, and relegating the team to the second-tier Expansion Division for 2026.

According to the international federation, the team had violated Article 20 of the Disciplinary Code that governs “manipulation of game results.”

In addition, the FIFA is requiring the Dominican Football Federation to implement an educational program to avoid any further attempts to influence the outcome of a match.

The Dominican Federation will request and receive the complete details of the incidents that led to the very severe penalty of the team from Athletic San Cristobal.

The LDF has already cancelled the matches on the schedule for this year’s championship.
