President Luis Abinader was in San Jose, California for two days (20-21 November 2025) to back private sector efforts to participate in the manufacturing chain for semiconductors.

He attended the annual meeting of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) in San Jose, California, the sector’s most influential global event, where he asserted the Dominican Republic’s ambition to become a key player in the semiconductor supply chain, the Presidency reports. The 2025 SIA Awards Dinner on 20 November 2025, at the Signia by Hilton San Jose, celebrating semiconductor excellence.

The President’s presence in California was described as part of a national strategy to embed the Dominican Republic into the global value chains of the semiconductor industry.
