On ocassion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November 2025, Minister of Interior and Police Faride Raful announced the day before a preliminary, historic reduction of 30.98% in recorded femicides so far in 2025. Minister Raful attributed the significant decline to coordinated actions by a dedicated Task Force and a strengthened institutional response.

Preliminary figures confirm a strong downward trend, showing 49 femicides registered so far in 2025, compared to 71 during the same period in 2024.

Raful reaffirmed that the protection of women and the prevention of femicide remain a national priority.

Minister Raful reiterated that every life lost “is a tragedy for a Dominican family” and underscored the government’s goal to ensure that no woman dies as a result of domestic violence.
