The Dominican Police Force has entered a new era of surveillance and transparency, El informe con Alicia Ortega reported on Monday, 24 November 2025.
The cameras are part of a dramatic technological transformation that puts every officer’s movement on record and turns patrol cars into mobile surveillance units. In a push for greater institutional transparency, the force has deployed over 200 body cameras and sophisticated license plate recognition (LPR) systems, fundamentally changing how it patrols, interacts with citizens, and monitors its own agents.
El Informe with Alicia Ortega toured these new units, spoke with officials, and accompanied a patrol to reveal the inner workings of the technology that not only monitors but also safeguards the police.
Ten police units are now equipped with automated License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems that operate seamlessly without agent intervention.
