There are currently 777,525 persons on the government’s payroll according to the Superintendent of Labor Risks and Health (Sisalril). That number represents a 5.2% increase over the 2024 number for September.
So far this year, there have been 22,500 persons added to the payroll, a 3% increase according to the Sisalril numbers.
Over the past ten years, over a quarter of a million people have become employed by the government.
In 2025, just between July and September there was a 2.3% increase in the people on the government payroll. The year’s end payroll is expected to show a 14% increase.
Payrolls for the different government agencies, ministries and departments now total 23.4% of the total trillion plus budget.
The latest numbers represent an increase of about 121,000 new employees since the Abinader administration took office.
