The Dominican Republic’s annual Christmas import duty exemption, known as the “Gracia Navideña” (Christmas Grace) or “Bono Navideño” (Christmas Bonus), has been raised to an unprecedented US$5,500, marking the highest value in the country’s history.

The Customs Agency (DGA) stresses the bonus is in appreciation for the significant contributions made by Dominicans residing abroad.

Effective 1 December 2025, through 15 January 2026, Dominican nationals arriving in the country for the holidays will be allowed to bring gifts for their families with an exemption from import taxes, provided the value does not exceed the newly established ceiling of US$5,500.
