Commuters utilizing the “Paso Rápido” electronic toll system in the Dominican Republic will no longer be required to manually share or input their TAG numbers at toll booths, marking a significant advancement in the country’s road network modernization.
RD Vial, the road network trust, announced the change, effective this Tuesday, following the installation of new backup RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) readers across the entire network.
Hostos Rizik, executive director of RD Vial, stated the move is a direct response to longstanding complaints from users regarding reading errors, charging issues, and duplicate fees with the existing electronic toll seals.
In a statement shared on social media, Rizik confirmed the new measures for improved traffic flow:
