The major issue with basic services in the main cities of the Dominican Republic is, plain and simple, water. In cities such as Santo Domingo and Santiago, an adequate supply of potable water is the biggest urban problem.
Now the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) has announced a public tender worth nearly RD$300 million for the drilling of 28 new water wells Greater Santo Domingo.
Speaking to the Dominican College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (CODIA), young Felipe Subervi, the head of the Caasd, said that the tender was structured in such a way as to benefit as many qualified professionals as possible.
The wells are to be drilled in the National District, Santo Domingo North and Santo Domingo West, as well as Pedro Brand and Los Alcarrizos.
