The Toros del Este (La Romana) defeated the Leones del Escogido (Santo Domingo) on 5 January 2026 to force a tie for first place of the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball League Championship. The win was the Toros’ third consecutive victory and their fifth in six games, allowing them to pull even with the Leones at the top of the leaderboard.

The Aguilas Cibaeñas (Santiago), after comfortably leading all throughout the regular season, is now 2.5 games behind. The Gigantes have yet to win a game in the round robin series to decide the playoff teams.

There are still five games to be played including the game between the Águilas Cibaeñas and Gigantes del Cibao that was rained out in San Francisco on 5 January. This game has been rescheduled to be played at the Julian Javier Stadium in San Francisco de Macoris on Tuesday, 6 January.
