The eighth edition of the “Berklee in Santo Domingo” academic program concluded this Saturday, 10 January 2026 with a record-breaking 43 scholarships awarded to young Dominican musicians, totaling approximately US$4.8 million (RD$200 million).The week-long intensive program (5-10 January 2026), a collaboration between the Berklee College of Music and the Ministry of Culture, culminated in a high-energy showcase at the Carlos Piantini Hall of the National Theater.
Out of the 220 participants, nearly 20% received financial aid to pursue higher education at Berklee’s prestigious campus in Boston.
Tim Lee, Berklee’s associate dean of Admissions, highlighted that 2026 marks a milestone for the partnership. The 43 scholarships represent nearly double the 23 awarded in the previous year.
