Unesco has officially opened nominations for the 2026 Unesco/Juan Bosch Prize for the Promotion of Social Science Research in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to a statement released Thursday by the Dominican Republic’s Permanent Mission.

Established in 2009 to mark the centenary of the birth of the late Dominican president and scholar Juan Bosch, the biennial award targets young researchers whose work bridges the gap between academic theory and social development policies.

The prize is designed to honor “innovative and rigorous research” that addresses the contemporary challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean. According to Unesco, the goal is to highlight scientific knowledge that fosters inclusive social development across the region.
