In recent years, the Dominican authorities have requested, and received, investigative assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States. In fact, the federal agency has collaborated with Dominican authorities on cases involving computer hacking, disappearances, fraud and money laundering, and extraditions.

Not always do the authorities in the Dominican Republic provide the circumstances that required the assistance of the FBI. In the latest case, that of the infant Brianna Genao, who disappeared two weeks ago, set off a major investigation assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, since there are similarities with other cases of child disappearances. The case of Brianna Genao has set off a massive effort by every conceivable Dominican agency, but after two weeks there has been no news.
