According to reports from the Presidency, President Luis Abinader arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday, 2 February 2026, to participate in the World Governments Summit (WGS). The President’s agenda centers on positioning the Dominican Republic as a regional leader in economic stability, innovation, and sustainable development. President Abinader has been active inviting Arabs to invest in the Dominican Republic.

During his stay, the President has been holding bilateral meetings with other world leaders and representatives from international organizations. A key focus of his mission is to highlight the Dominican Republic’s role as a “logistics bridge” between the Caribbean and global markets, and very especially the United States. The DR last year hosted the regional WGS-LAC Dialogue in Punta Cana in late 2025.
