Active circulation of the Influenza A (H3N2) variant has triggered a surge in medical consultations and hospitalizations across the Dominican Republic. Health experts report that this specific strain is currently the most aggressive of at least five respiratory viruses circulating in the country, often leading to severe clinical outcomes in both children and adults.

The Dominican Society of Pulmonology and Thoracic Surgery (SDNCT) has issued a formal alert, noting that H3N2 symptoms are frequently more intense than other seasonal strains, typically presenting as high fevers, extreme fatigue, and persistent coughs.
