As of Monday, 2 March 2026, a new driver’s license format is available for Dominicans.

The new cards incorporate technological and security enhancements aligned with international standards such as ISO/IEC 18013-5, which regulates secure and verifiable driver’s licenses. This standard ensures that the document is globally recognized and harder to forge.

The license is made of high-security polycarbonate and personalized via laser engraving. It includes:• Microtext and holograms• Invisible inks and UV printing• Advanced Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to validate identity• A centralized unique history with auditable records
