The Dominican Republic’s baseball team in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) wore “Dominicana” on their jerseys, and was all about showing the world what “Platano Power” is all about. The team rolled past all the teams in group D: Venezuela, Nicaragua, Israel, and The Netherlands.

The game against The Netherlands was only seven innings as Juan Soto hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, making the score12-1, and ending the game under the “Mercy” rule. This was the first time in the history of the WBC that there was a walk-off home run in the seventh inning to win a game.
