The Central Electoral Board (JCE) is moving to clear up confusion regarding the mass rollout of the new identity and electoral card (cédula), specifically for citizens born in January, February, and March who missed the starting window or wish to obtain their document ahead of schedule.

While the official renewal phase for those born in April begins on 12 April 2026, the JCE has established a specific workaround for citizens whose birth months have already passed or are far off.

24-hour service centersAccording to JCE president Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo, eight specific centers will operate 24 hours a day to accommodate the demand.
