The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) has yet to issue its final bulletin (No. 4) on the Easter holiday mega commute, but the incoming news already establishes new commute records.
2026 is now the year of highest mobility in the country’s main road history. The number of commuters using toll roads during the 2026 Easter Week holiday reached a historic 891,601 vehicle crossings over the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday commute, a 32.8% increase over 2025 when 671,455 crossings were reported. The peak travel day was Thursday, 2 April with 366,871 vehicles recorded in a single day. While the official holiday fell on Good Friday, 3 April, the government had allowed for non-essential public offices to close on Wednesday, a day earlier than in previous years.
