The Dominican government has deployed three military companies to the central border province of Elías Piña to reinforce security following a series of violent disturbances on the Haitian side of the border. The deployment of around 270 soldiers is part of a broader national security strategy announced by President Luis Abinader just 24 hours prior. Speaking on the need to safeguard national sovereignty, the President had ordered a tightening of surveillance across the entire 391-kilometer border shared with Haiti.

High-ranking officials within the Dominican Army confirmed that the three companies were drawn from various major units stationed in areas currently experiencing stable conditions. This allows the military to pivot resources to the Elías Piña corridor without compromising security in other regions.
