One year after the Jet Set nightclub tragedy, Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso warned that the justice system must not become a stage for “unnecessary delays” in the face of the victims’ suffering, as reported in Listin Diario. The tragedy, which remains one of the most significant structural failures in recent Dominican history, occurred on 8 April 2025. Reynoso spoke on occasion of the first anniversary of the tragedy and shared the indignation of the victims’ relatives of the delay in the actual start of the hearings of the case.

The accused siblings Antonio and Maribel Espaillat are free on bail. They face penal charges of involuntary manslaughter.
