The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) and meteorologist Jean Suriel have issued urgent weather advisories as a pre-frontal trough combined with a cold front system brings heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to the Dominican Republic.

Drivers are urged to exercise extreme caution due to significantly reduced visibility during heavy downpours. Dangerous surf and high tides are forecast for the north coast from Samana to Montecristi.

The East Coast is spared from the bad weather alerts, nevertheless. The East Coast is the least impacted, but Indomet reports small boats should not operate due to turbulence in the Atlantic Ocean.
