New Minister of Housing Victor (Ito) Bisono says works are advancing towards putting into effect new initiatives that will make obtaining construction permits more agile. Builders constantly complain the delays in issuing of the permits increase the cost of construction. The new systems seek to digitize and automate the procedures, simplifying the steps for all to gain. He said the country has a 1.2 million deficit in housing, when explaining the plan during an interview with the El Caribe media group.

Likewise, he announced that the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Edifications (Mivhed) has issued Resolution #007-2026 making effective the new Construction Code of the Dominican Republic, the technical framework for design, construction and supervision of edifications nationwide.
