The province of El Seibo officially begins its traditional bullfights this Friday, 1 May 2026, marking the start of one of the most culturally significant events in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. Deeply rooted in local identity, the annual spectacle draws hundreds of visitors attracted by a unique blend of historical legacy, religious fervor, and popular entertainment, Diario Libre reports.
The festivities are held in honor of the Santísima Cruz (Holy Cross), the central figure of the province’s patron saint celebrations. The inaugural events commence at 2pm with a ceremony to officially unveil the name of the Plaza de Toros y Multiuso Eduardo Lima. Following cultural presentations, the bullfights (locally known as corridas) begins at 4pm.
