Following years of technical negotiations, the governments of the Dominican Republic and Hungary have moved to formalize a new framework for an aviation bilateral. On 27 April 2026, authorities from both nations met at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) in Santo Domingo to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a decisive step toward the final execution of a formal Air Services Agreement (ASA).
The newly established legal framework introduces a modern, flexible environment for flight operations. Under the terms of the agreement, airlines will have the autonomy to define routes, frequencies, and pricing based on market demand rather than rigid state restrictions. This liberalization is expected to significantly enhance connectivity between the Caribbean nation and Central Europe.
