The director general of the Customs Agency (DGA), Nelson Arroyo, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to strengthening Dominican exports through streamlined processes and enhanced logistics, aiming to solidify the country’s position as a strategic regional trade hub.

Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Dominican Association of Exporters (Adoexpo), Arroyo emphasized that the DGA has evolved from a traditional gatekeeper into a strategic ally for the private sector.

During his presentation, Arroyo revealed that total Dominican exports have doubled over the past decade, reaching a milestone of US$14 billion in 2025. This figure represents over 30% of the nation’s total foreign exchange earnings, making the sector the primary driver of hard currency for the economy. He highlighted how more than 500 new exporters have entered the market.
