The General Museums Agency (DGM) has announced the 2026 edition of “La Noche Larga de los Museos” (a version of the global event The Long Night of Museums). The local cultural initiative is scheduled for 15, 16 and 17 May 2026. Museums will be open from 10am until 12 midnight. Admission is entirely free for all state-owned museums during the event days.

The global event, which originated in Germany in 1997 and debuted locally in 2008, has evolved into a cornerstone of the national cultural calendar. According to Carlos Andújar, director general of Museums, this year’s focus shifts away from massive musical stages to prioritize the museographic experience. The goal is for educational activities —such as workshops, historical documentaries, and guided tours— to complement the collections rather than overshadow them.
