The Dominican Republic government and the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 13 May 2026 to strengthen business cooperation, promote investment, and consolidate collaboration mechanisms for the development of free zones, exports, and international trade.

The agreement was signed in Panama City during the 12th World Free Zone Congress. The signatories were the Dominican Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs (MICM), Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, and the Director General of the WFZO, Matthew Stephenson. Dominican President Luis Abinader and WFZO President Mohammed Al Zarooni attended as witnesses of honor.
