It has been very, very warm these past weeks, and the weather folks seem to think it is going to stay that way for some time. Part of the issue is the very noticeable presence of dust from the Sahara that can be see with the naked eye at dawn and at dusk.

The Ministry of Public Health is advising the population to take preventive measures, especially those persons with respiratory issues.

Typical as part of hurricane season, the dust is often removed from the atmosphere when the tropical cyclones deposit their huge loads of water. However, this year, there have been very few tropical disturbances and so the dust remains.

People are urged to be cautious and be on the look out for symptoms such as eye irritation or congestion of the nasal passages that are possible signs of too much exposure to the outside air.
