The Dominican government took a decisive step toward strengthening the legal protection of its protected areas by handing over the first six property land titles to the State for Montaña La Humeadora National Park and Loma Novillero Forest Reserve — adding to the country’s broader System of Protected Areas (Sinap), which includes roughly 30 national parks. This action consolidates state ownership of land designated for conservation and helps preserve the integrity of these natural spaces.

The measure, led by President Luis Abinader, is part of a national process aimed at identifying, clearing, regularizing, and titling land within the legally established boundaries of protected areas in favor of the Dominican State. The goal is to prevent illegal occupations, avoid ecosystem fragmentation, and ensure orderly environmental management.
