The Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), the National District Mayor’s Office, and the electrical sector have officially launched a project to remove and reorganize approximately 300 kilometers of unused overhead cables across several neighborhoods in Santo Domingo. The authorities did not share a date when the effort was expected to have concluded.

Guido Gómez Mazara, President of the Indotel Board of Directors, led the launch tour on Thursday, 20 August 2026, alongside National District Mayor Carolina Mejía and Joel Santos, the recently appointed president of the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED).
