A street surveillance video has enabled the identifying of a man now accused of attempted robbery of the bag of a woman on a street in Evaristo Morales. The woman is the wife of Dominican ambassador Francisco Javier Matos Pujols, better known as Holi Matos.

The assailant is identified as 31-year old Edgar Argenis Ramirez Alvarez (Gafita). He turned himself in voluntarily to Noticias SIN news agency that had reported on the incident. He was transferred to the Naco police branch.

The Police now say the individual is linked to other assaults.

Matos Pujols is an ambassador attached to the Ministry of Foreign Relations. He is a former consul general of the DR in Orlando, Florida (May 2022 to June 2025), before transitioning to the Ministry of Foreign Relations headquarters in Santo Domingo in an internal capacity. He has also...
