President Luis Abinader named Ernesto Bournigal Read as the country’s Superintendent of Securities. Bournigal Read graduated with honors in law from the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in 2003. In 2005 he obtained a Master’s Degree (LLM) in Banking and Finance Law, concentration in Project Finance and Securities Market Transactions from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts

At the time of his appointment, he was cabinet director at the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency (MAPRE) to where he was appointed in 2020. Previously he worked for the Bobadilla and OMG law firms.
