True for now. If the "brothers" misbehave or put too much baloney about Colombia mongering on the internet the ricos in Colombia will not tolerate it and someone will get hurt,no way will the rich and powerful allow it. Colombians aren't passive like Dominicans,they will act and it won't be pretty.

My bad. Should have been more specific. I meant foreign tourists, not DR locals. I’m well aware of the local scene at Sosua beach and the weekend bus traffic. Same thing used to happen in Playa Dorada at POP Village Resort now under reconstruction. Buses carrying large numbers of DR families with kids would roll in every weekend. DR families will miss that resort. They got a really sweet deal there on the weekends. Doesn’t alter the fact that Sosua will have a hard time attracting foreign tourists and their kids in its current state.
With regard to the massive breakwater project, your right. The infilling is a temporary measure and an expensive one. Sosua is not the only area with beach problems. Parts of Cabarete beach are being impacted as well.
They opened last Saturday night 26 Oct, had live music for the opening, two different Dominican bands performing.
They are open tonight as I type this, and yes they are providing transportation for their Bourbon Street clients, chicas and chicos.
With Classico and Merengue Bar still open it's not going to be overly crowded. EXCEPT, they can remain open until 6:00am, Classico and Merengue cannot.
Damn that is crazy and in march I will be partying all night then. Smart move putting his business there. I can grab a new chick every couple hours till daylight.
China owning the DR because of such bad deals is a bit different than having a lot of Chinese tourists being here. There may be an influx Chinese "owners that live here" when the DR defaults on loan payments, etc, but that flight from China is way longer than most anyone would want to make.
As for Sosua, let's see what else changes...

When Chinese tourists in the DR buy souvenirs, the souvenirs were made in China. :cheeky:
Years ago the same thing happened to me, but I was in Medellin Colombia and bought a handful of souvenirs on the street to take back with me. Got to the house in Colombia and found the China stickers on everything!
