No different then your strong opinions ,lecture people wow your force is strong Jedi Knight..

Please re read my post , you took it the wrong way ...before one can lecture , ,one has to have credentials ,, like for example if you LIVED in Sosua for 25 years or the North Coast at least for 10+ years , .... then we need to listen to you closely.
if you just moved there 1-2 years ago ,, then no so much .
And if you had lets say 10 + years , you would have for example watched with your own eyes , places OPEN, get closed , RE OPEN again ( having spent a FORTUNE to RE model)
.. get Closed again... and each time they RE opened, it was with the Blessing of the Dom Govt ..

see what we saying ?

Sorry you took offense ..

"The guys from the tri-state area" this is in obvious reference to the black guys. Just say it

YES. I am talking about black guys, white guys, italian guys, domincan yorker guys,
mexican american guys..
should I keep going???

Let me spell it out for you again. This has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with
conduct. Unfortunately, some people are waaaayyyy to ignorant to recognize it, hence me taking the time to point it out for folks like yourself.:cheeky:

CtRob... you always seem to know what you are talking about, even if I dont agree with some of it , you continue to PROVE you know what is actually happening on the ground ..

So, do you think this " new Zone" is for Real ? or just a Carrot to get these bars Relocated,, only to be shut down again , when " they " feel like it ..
Simple straightforward question, your opinion , based on all you have seen over the years ..

Just opinion, but I think it was a negotiating tool. "Here, go down there, we'll leave you alone, but go."" kind of move. Out of site, out of mind.
As long as it doesn't get to big, I think they'll leave them alone. I expect it to be well patrolled, police station being right there.

But lot of the puta business will probably scatter and not end up there. I'm sure that's fine with gov't/developers/local families. After all, reclaiming PC was the goal.

The phonograph that is Sosua is stuck and has been skipping for a long time. The authorities just don't get it. Sosua was never and never will be a Playa Dorada tourist destination. Even when there were a few resorts to choose from, the tourists of the type needed to sustain an economy did not select Sosua. Thus we have no more resorts and little of anything else.

This "Dusty Whore Town" (love that expression thx Meems) is what it is because it can't be anything else. Retirees are not courted with great infrastructure, retail opportunities and activities. The fiasco that is the POP airport compounds the problems. There is nothing that today's family vacationer would find attractive about this town or this area in general. In it's heyday tours from the surrounding resort areas brought men in organized tours to Sosua to party the night away and then rolled then off the bus back at their resort in the wee hours of the morning.

The nighttime lonely hearts club was and is the only draw to this town. It is not going to get better economically, culturally or socially anytime soon. There is just not enough foreign wealth here to keep a regular economy afloat. Until there is a McDonalds, a La Sirena and a decent hardware store that is larger than your average 7-11 what can Sosua offer to retirees (whom I see as the only future this town has) or family tourists. Sosua does not have the space for the type of resorts needed to attract the number of tourists needed to float this boat. Without the options that would make for a mass market tourist /retiree/snowbird destination, Sosua is going to plod along as an insignificant and almost irrelevant highway town. If not for Hwy 5 bisecting it, few would come here unless they were specifically craving the one thing on offer and they have an iron liver. Sosua can offer visitors a bed to sleep the daylight away, in preparation for a night of alcohol infused frolicking but really, for how many days can your average cultural tourist keep that up for? The answer comes from JetBlue, about 4 nights.

The only tourism model that works for this country is the one or two week all inclusive resort stay. This town remains stuck in a perpetual state of reality denial and is going nowhere even at a snails pace.

I disagree. Sosua bay has one of the nicest beaches on the island.
They just need to add some more sand and clean it up a little. This
beach can easily compete with beaches in places like PR, Jamaica
and southeast asia.

So you're basically saying all it needs is infrastructure and a McDonalds?

By the way, I'm not against prostitution or the establishments which
support it. Its the loud over-the-top obnoxious in your face behavior
I have a problem with.

One need look no futher than the title of this article to know this pressure came from
the folks at the top. Whenever you start hearing the words "Trafficking" in this
country, its game over. In the 8 years I've lived here, I can't think of one single business
which has been shut down under the guise of "human trafficking" that has been allowed
to re-open after the initial closure.... correct me if I'm wrong.

It still remains illegal for 3rd parties to profit directly from prostitution. So any red light zone will not include brothels or establishments that charge the girls to facilitate the trade. Passions and CMP were not ahead of their time, they were just illegal or at the very least significantly left of this country's moral centre and objectionable to those in a position to do something about it.

Making money off the avails of prostitutes is so far over the line and always has been so those who do know they are operating on borrowed time. Now it could be quite awhile but eventually someone will arrive to cart off the beds.

I don't know if this new area will take off. But, if there are sufficient tables & chairs, reasonably priced drinks, a place to dance and swoon, if the girls go there, if the men go there and there is a convenient means to get back to the aparta hotel, it could work out. If it takes off, more development will surely follow as sin makes for a profitable business plan.

Peters wife is DOMINICAN, and she REMODELED the whole place ( " Amazon " ?) and was going to RE OPEN it as a Disco only.... she complied , so why did it never happen ?
then Ironically she was allowed to open Blue Ice Piano Bar right on the corner of Rosen and PC , which was just the other night shut down .
Its a shell game of meaningless Rules and Regulations ..which are enforced whenever they feel like it .

If you are trying to apply "Laws" and Logic here , then I respectfully say that YOU are the one who is confused ..
ANY BAR or even restaurant can be closed down, for ANY Reason.. Period ..
And just like in that Bugs Bunny Cartoon, We predict the future by reading the bumps on your head ... oh, you don't have any bumps ? we Make some ..

Vow, Windy you are on overdrive today, consider yourself the Oracle of North Coast, ha.. ! lol

Digging up old posts and all that, perhaps go a bit further and dig up a few posts from 2011, 2013 and 2015, when they closed big Latino bar (which is Chinese junk shop today), they closed bar Rumba, closed the big fat Herman Cigar shop in the corner, just last year Blue Ice and few others. They even chased out of the country Boby and Armando, everyone said that was it, end of all chicas in Sosua, it's cleaned up. They said this time was really different, they really mean it... !!!? (Christo viene and all that...)

This time they are not even closing bars, just relocating them, so much of change for Sosua that would be... This is all so the greedy real estate bunch can take over a few location downtown and selling it to Chinese for junk shops or another food buffet, we really need those. I personally think it's a prime location for a kindergarten, I mean there is no land left here to develop any more, right... ! (not)

As for post about big developers pouring in, we can see a prime example of that in Cabarete, I mean they said Lifestyle was it's savior, as you mentioned they never had or will have chica problem, so did it really flourish by those developers... !? From the other thread sounds like it is dying a slow death... ! How can we believe they are going to make a success of it here is Sosua, fat chance if you ask me...

A managed approach by the way would be to avoid closures and job losses, economic impact to communities, keep everyone happy, best of all worlds, no such a meaning to some people, they only have their own selfish interest in mind. So what if they gave a year's notice, the constructions at end of the town are not ready, so the businesses are supposed to move to where...? That's mismanagement, then again time is running out for some, they have to show they are doing something,....May 2020, tik-tuk, tik-tuk..... !!!?

You might have a clue now. History is sometimes relevant in what happens in the moment. This is not about getting rid of hookers, it is about relocating them and the mongers just a short distance away. Prohibition never works. Dominicans that plan? That is funny. The funniest thing I heard today.

I have no idea if this approach will work, but it probably will remove those two groups from a very small part of the west end of Pedro Clisante and whatever survives on the east end will survive. . I have been following this situation for a long time regarding the desires of the government in Santo Domingo and those who were working on projects here. Unfortunately one of those projects, a redevelopment of an old AI resort between Sosua and Cabarete that was coming soon falied because of that same government and its burdensome taxes. The person in charge of that resort provided a good deal of information which has proven to be accurate. One example of his information happened just the other night.

A place like Lifestyles is not going to make Cabarete flourish. It might make the Lifestyles corporation more wealthy and employ a few locals along with buying some things. Lifestyles seems to have a market that people like. I have no idea why. I expect Cabarete to have a small increase in expats and little increase in tourism. Exactly what I see for Sosua as well.

Why do people fail to realize that all of the north coast is not seeing much tourism and that tourism has been taken away by Punta Cana and the chain of events since Punta Cana came on line with dozens of new large resorts?

Yeah, they will. With a D6 and Hazmat suits.

Funny one Ctrob. I can do the HazMat site assessment and these days, I work for beer. Can you imagine the negative publicity the media could generate with pictures of a HazMat team on Sosua beach? it would destroy what’s left of Sousa’s foreign tourism.

lol,yea gonna open up next door to the New Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons

There was never going to be a Ritz Carlton in Sosua.

But there might be a Hilton coming. And there is definitely a property associated with Marriott, just down the side street from Bologna. I wonder if they had anything to do with what just happened? Hmm...

EVERY Single Hotel in SOSUA which allows " Guests " is guilty of exactly the same then..
Are they next ?

You have a good point if every single hotel really does do the same things that are illegal. Any type of third party promotion of prostitution is illegal. If the hotel only rents rooms, hourly or otherwise, I think they are safe.

The "human trafficking" excuse for the closures was one I had not thought of. Clever..

And how do you know if a "guest" is a not a wife, girlfriend, or anything else? Might as well do away with Hotels altogether. Great idea to improve tourism. Don't let any woman that looks good in your hotel..............
