Of course it's going to hit Florida hard. The majority of the population is over 90 and lives in extended health care. If you haven't been paying attention over 80% of the deaths are seniors living in extended health care facilities.

You really need to get out of self isolation and research this stuff. It's readily available. Even in large print with pictures.
It is the groups under 35 who are getting infected though, because the governor opened the bars and is now having to reverse that decision. Bad Leadership

You do realize the death rate is .26 of 1% and dropping, Get over your self and go hide out in Europe
I hope this nasty virus does not come knocking on you or your families door, the death rate may be low we are lucky so far in that, we do not know the true figures yet, but the what could be permanent damage to the bodies of those who survive are worrying the health authorities. the respiratory teams in europe fear they are going to be inundated dealing long term with those patients.

just open up the beaches and hotels. people who want to enjoy life, will come out and play, the rest of you folks should just stay at home with 2 masks on and watch TV's daily covid death counts. We have to move on and normalize the life. this virus will pass through everyone so like it our love it, it's coming your way, no matter what.
Have a nice day.
This virus is here, there and everywhere to stay.

If three months of restrictions did not stop it, why do people think that additional restrictions are going to stop it?
A respiratory virus has never been stopped by restrictions in all of history. Surges/Spikes/Waves were inevitable because
of social distancing and flattening the so called curve. The area under the curve is unlikely to change.

Do what you can to protect yourself and quite asking for a nanny state to do it for you.

Your figures are wrong mate the death rate is 3.4%, check your figures before you tell me to get over myself
I am currently hiding out as you call it in Europe, I'm in Scotland hoping to return to RD in November, the RD is referred to as the coronvirus epicentre in the Caribbean here in the UK media, an image that is has damaging reputation for the tourism industry that the country is dependent on. I love the RD and would hate to see it's image tarnished if visiting Americans bring the virus to the RD in large numbers. If it has an ongoing reputation as a epicentre of this virus, eventually the Americans will abandon holidaying there in large numbers as they did last year over the "scandal" of deaths in the resorts of the Republica Dominicana. In my view it is a BIG mistake for the RD to open up to American tourists at this stage, till America gets a better grip on the epidemic in that country.

There are a couple of American songs, "Button Up Your Overcoat" and "Baby it's Cold Out" that come to mind reading your posts. Again, I repeat for the 45th time, this is a forum board of opinions. Ground rules are minimal and do not need substantiation. You might want to reconsider your idea of coming here this winter and look bad in the eyes of your countrymen that might have a tarnished view of the DR and Americans. We are all blessed, very blessed, to have all these options in life, aren't we?

If things deteriorate in the RD, I will reconsider my travel plans. But it's got nothing to do with looking bad in the eyes of my countrymen. Americans had a tarnished view of the RD last year, don't let the world have tarnished view of the RD this year by importing cases from USA.People don't want to go on holiday to a place where they might get sick, I'm trying to look out for the RD and it's tourism industry on which it is so reliant. The RD really does not want to become the epicentre of Covid19 in the Caribbean. Just Saying.....

I know it is that's why i'm not returning to RD till November at the earliest, but I will be back when it's safer. I love the RD and I know it needs tourist to come, but they won't come if it does not feel safe. Look at the drop off in Americans coming last year because of the fear that it was not safe

better you stay in the Highlands and enjoy that North Sea breeze in the winter, than risk leaving your sheltered life
