What do you have to do to make an international call on Altice?

Your best bet is get on WhatsApp and have the people you want to call do the same. Then all you need is to be online then it's free calling.

Other than that you pretty much need a lot of pesos on your account or a phone plan that includes international calls.

Banks don't do WhatsApp. I'm not worried about the pesos. I xoomed $1000DOP into my account to try and get the bank to unlock my account. Now Altice won't let me use it for international. O yeah, the bank is thumbing its nose at xoom about the transfer, and xoom is pissed at me. Hahaha, what a fucking mess.

When my banks need to speak to me ( or me to them ), I explain that I am abroad and it is inconvenient for me to phone. They always propose to set a time, and they call me.

Maybe worth a try ?

Plan B is Skype. Load about it 10 dollars on it CDN or US and they charge about w cent per minute to North America. Slightly higher to Europe. Good luck

I mostly make calls to the US( 2 cents/min), so I have a US(Florida) number for contacts there to call me - it's the same as a domestic call for them.
All calls to the US on Claro count the same as a local call to the DR. I assume Altice is the same.

In the past (Maybe the same for Altice).

For Claro it has been as follows:
(Very old informaton as I now have a U.S. number by Google).

Calling 800 numbers from D.R.
If 800 use 880
If 888 use 881
If 866 use 882
If 877 use 883

Are they or were they toll free?

It i interesting that this question has come up. I am with VIVA and I had until recently been able to make international calls to mobiles and landlines on my iPhone. Recently however my calls to UK landlines are not being connected but calls to mobile numbers are. I tried a test call to WU offices in Brussels and it connected as did calls to other European cities. I thought it might be a problem with the phone but I am thinking perhaps to just use my Skype.
