The case of a would-be denial of entry to a couple because of the looks of the woman is making the rounds of social media and the press. Now it is known that Nikaury Belén and her husband had reservations at Peperoni Restaurant on 16 February 2022 and were denied entry because of the braided hairstyle of the woman.

The couple is suing the restaurant. Their lawyer, Emilio Lopez said that they will act legally seeking social vindication and not only for them, “but for each one of the Dominicans who day by day suffer this type of harassment and discrimination in many places and do not have a voice to defend them.”

The National Consumer Agency (ProConsumidor) announced it has called the restaurant administrator to explain the case of the complaint that the young woman was not allowed to enter the restaurant, as reported in N Digital.

A couple of my Dominican friends are of the impression it was because she was wearing that see-through midriff baring top.

No one was turned away for braids. Hopefully there is restaurant video of the event.

My nephew is in 1st grade private school in SD. He is one of the few dark skinned students and if his hair grows more than 1 inch the administrators say he is "pelu" and needs a haircut. Yet the mop style Spaniards students are fine.

We have boys with afros....etc. Once they are in Grade two or three my wife makes them all have hair cuts. When they are in Kinder...etc it can be as long as the parents want but first sign of head lice off it goes. Skin color is not a factor.

Afros are not allowed. Hair type is the factor as this major school

And what do you mean by "mop style"?

Back to a discussion about the restaurant incident, please.

The topic is not boys' hair style and school regulations.

I for one appreciate the decorum in Dominican restaurants. One of my fav restaurants in St Dom., La Cassina will not let men in with hats, sports jerseys etc. The woman are dressed elegantly. No one wants to sit next to a chica wearing bubblegum colored spandex and glittered skin sheen, escorted by a fat loud mouth dic that found the restaurant on tripreports

That's the real issue. Some people think that since everyone was born naked, they should be able to enter a place with all their attributes on display. People should simply adhere to dressing codes if a place has one. For example, any man wearing shorts or any woman with a very short skirt can't enter the National Palace.

That's a classy restaurant. Plenty of other places where you can eat dressed in what you want. Go there if adhering to a dressing code is a problem for you.

This was the woman not allowed to enter. She had a black bra, my wild guess.

This was the claim made by her husband in social media.

On the other hand, here is a photo of a review made by a gringo with his girlfriend inside Peperoni in 2020.

No see through blouse.

something tells me there was an attitude that kept them out as well (do you know who I am and who I know). The gringo pic, he looks like a dope, refuses to wear age appropriate attire.

Everyone was allowed in the restaurant except her. There are no pics of what the group looked like, though a restaurant like that should have security cameras everywhere including the entrance. The security video should have that on display.

Who knows, maybe some of her other friends are as dark as the woman in the pic and since they were allowed in, the couple decided it was the braids when her blouse is obviously not allowed in such establishment. It could be an attitude problem too, as you said.

There is more to the story not being said by them.
