I need to do something about this heat. I can't afford an inverter air right now. (I'm trying to save up for cremation for my dog because I think the end is near. Also for dental stuff for me). I saw the portable ones. My bedroom is small (measures 15 by 12 of my size nine feet..lol). I looked at portable air conditioner but my window is only 13 inches wide. Anyone know about the portable air conditioners?

I do BUT from when I lived in the USA. We had a problem in one room in the front of the house where we were not allowed because of architectural restrictions with window units. We bought at local appliance store and worth every penny of the money. A couple of years later I started using the second floor for my office. Simply moved that unit upstairs and was off and running in 15 minutes, Later went and bought another to replace downstairs.
There are a great solution for many situations one might have.

Thanks. I'm looking into them now.

You need an exhaust duct through your bedroom wall as well as a hole for the drain line. Some drain into a pan inside the unit, but constantly emptying it out is a PITA. Many tend to be very noisy. Make sure to check it out before you buy. Most use 110V.

Next question. For a smaller unit would I be able to just use 120 electric connection or do I need to ger EDEESTE to put in a 240 meter? I really want the least amount of hastle.
Yes (120)and the unit will have clear instruction on the top of the unit in the store. The only caution I have is that opening for the exhaust. Will that opening be accessible to to the bad guys? Because that is an easy push-in if you're on the first floor. Crack heads have no limits on what they will do for a couple of bux.

I can't imagine it being louder than my stand fan next to my head and a large floor fan next to the doorway to bring in cooler air. I hardly hear any noice from outside .

Forget getting EdeNorte to do that - it comes with its own extra cost.
Thankfully it is not as hot the past few days.
But yes there were 3 weeks this year where without AC life is unbearable

I would put the exhaust out the window and there can be no holes.
The duct is about 4" in diameter, so your window would be open that much. What about the drain line? You'll probably have to go with one that has a pan that has to be emptied.

Oh, they can be much louder than just a floor fan. They have a compressor inside. Make sure you listen to it before buying. Noise was one of the biggest complaints in reviews on these units.

I've had a couple. The biggest complaint is noise and electricity consumption. If you get one, don't set it too cold; it will lessen the impact on your electric bill.
If you like white noise you'll probably glad you bought one.

So, anyone who has had one. What brand would you recommend? I have been reading up on them the last few weeks. Trying to decide between window air or portable. I could not find and window air to fit so decided on portable. I would check the unit carefully and make sure the window attachment is included. I'm trying to make a.wise informed choice.

It will accompany the constant hum from the flour mill and the street noise from Av. España that I am used to. And the floor fan is some industrial thing someone sent me it consumes a lot of energy.

Not an a/c, but you should consider getting headphones with noise cancellation capability. Though pricey (there are cheaper ones, don’t know how effective is their noise cancelling capability) can’t go wrong with Bose.

Combining them with ear plugs greatly reduces the noise level.

The smallest window unit I've seen is quite a bit wider (and larger) than 13 inches.

Also, the portables aren't exactly small. The base has got to be at least 16 inches wide or so. Do you have room for that?

here;s a couple from FB

Tell me again, why don't you want a split unit?
